What is the best available connection?

At Pronto, you get access to all three nationwide networks plus many regional carriers. But what makes one network "better" than another at any given moment?

How we define "best" today: Signal quality is the universal measure of connection quality and it's currently our north star. We continuously monitor your connection, and when signal strength drops below our quality threshold, we automatically search for a stronger network and switch you to it. It's simple, fast and effective.

Think there's a "better" connection? Our "Switch networks now" button puts you in control. Hit the button and if there's another network available, we'll connect you to it and let you be the judge. The button is also great when you're first trying Pronto—it's a quick way to get proof that we really do give you access to all the networks and can switch you in real-time.

Where we're going with "best": Pronto’s new service is the biggest change in mobile since the smartphone—but this is just the beginning! Here are just a few of our plans for improving how we define "best" in 2026:

  • Location preferences (choose your preferred network for home, office, etc.)
  • Switching sensitivity controls (low, medium or high to balance "best" without distraction)
  • Consideration of multiple performance factors (like upload/download speeds, ping/latency, signal strength, and variability)
  • Satellite direct to your phone services - starting with text and voice following later in the year
  • Additional mobile services tailored for small business people on the go.

It’s a pretty great list, right? But ultimately, what we build will be guided by what our customers like you ask for.

What "best" means for guarantees: Our promise is to connect you to the best available network amongst the extensive group of operators that Pronto has access to. Since carrier prioritization varies, we can't guarantee identical performance to direct carrier plans—but we can guarantee that of the networks available at your location, we'll get you on the best one according to our current definition of "best."
