Calling with Pronto
Once set up, calling with Pronto is not much different than calling and texting with any mobile carrier.
- Pronto gives you one phone number to use across multiple networks (with real-time switching, no less).
- You need to be signed into our mobile app to use this phone number for calling.
A note about your phone number: Though our app is required, your phone number is a “wireless number” and does not have the same restrictions as a phone number provided by an OTT messaging app (like WhatsApp, for example). It is compatible with one-time codes sent by institutions like your bank, and portable to other wireless networks if you choose to leave.
You can make calls from the Pronto Mobile app or set Pronto at the default for your phone's native phone dialer.
-
iOS: Go to > Settings > Apps > Phone > Default calling app and select Pronto Mobile as default.
-
Android: Go to > Settings > Apps > Choose default apps > Phone app and select Pronto Mobile. Then click “Save.”
After setting Pronto as your default calling app, your calls to any number initiated from your contacts list or list of recent calls will be automatically initiated by Pronto. To manually dial a number simply enter it in the dialer on the “Voice” tab of the Pronto Mobile app. For inbound calls you will receive an on-screen alert by which you can accept or reject the call as you do with any mobile carrier.
