Important calling and texting information

If you’re having trouble placing a call, double check the phone number and make sure you are entering it correctly. 

• To send text or iMessages to US and Canadian numbers, enter +1, the area code, and the number (e.g., +1-555-555-5555). 
• Entering “+1” is not required to place calls to US and Canadian numbers but can be included at your discretion.
• To call/text other countries, dial + followed by the country code, city code, and number. 
  • You can search and find the country code here. 
  • If there is a zero listed before the city code of the international number, remove the zero. 
  • If you hear an automated message that says a two-digit number, you must enter the number you hear to complete the call. 
• For emergency calls, dial 1-1-2 when traveling internationally. 
  • 9-1-1 may also be used in some countries in addition to 1-1-2. 
  • If in doubt, check the local directory or other resources for the emergency number in that country.
