How We Landed on the Name Pronto Mobile

We get asked all the time: Where did the name Pronto Mobile come from?”

Like most startups, it began with a simple “what if?” — what if you could get access to all the major networks for the price of one?  At first, we weren’t thinking too hard about brand names. We just called ourselves what we offered: Best Networks or BestNet for short. Straightforward, right? The problem? It was… well… boring. Forgettable. And let’s be honest — it sounded like a knock-off cable company.

Entering a massive market when you know you can deliver something better? That's exciting stuff! We wanted something that matched our energy—something that could connect with our people, on-the-go workers fed up with hit-or-miss mobile. Something bold that people would actually remember.

The Naming Struggle is Real

If you’ve ever started a business, you know this part: naming is way harder than it looks. We went through dozens of ideas. At one point, we seriously considered Three Dogs Mobile (Jeff really does have three dogs). We kicked around Big Dog Mobile too (because apparently, we really like dogs). We flirted with cool, techy one-word names like Fuze. Each time, we’d get excited for a day or two… and then find a fatal flaw.

Then Came "Pronto"

Enter Shannon. She had just come back from an anniversary trip to Italy and asked us: “Do you know how Italians answer the phone?”

Cue the dramatic pause.

The answer: "Pronto!"

That was it. The lightbulb moment. The name that felt fast, friendly, confident, and international—everything we wanted our brand to be. Within seconds, we knew we'd found it. Pronto Mobile was born.

Then Came "Pronto"

As any founder will tell you, landing on a name is one thing… securing the domain name is another battle entirely. But this time, luck was on our side: ProntoMobile.com was available. We grabbed it, popped some champagne (ok, maybe just a couple of coffees), and never looked back.
